Popkomm 2011 Showcase Programme.
Kellermensch (Denmark), Popkomm 2010
Popkomm will organise an intensive afternoon programme of live showcases in venues based at the legendary Tempelhof airport – the Popkomm Centre - on 07-08 September 2011. Amongst the active few days of networking, seminars, meetings, and presentations, there will be Day Stages available exclusively to Popkomm exhibitors and delegates to showcase their priority artists to the rest of the Popkomm congregation.
The showcase programme will be fully promoted to all Popkomm delegates to assist the artists to gather the attention of the right people in the right place at the right time. Our aim is to present a selection of high quality new artists, on the verge of breaking through into the mainstream and would be of most interest to the many important decision-makers and influential media people that attend the Popkomm event.
Popkomm 2010 presented artists that have gone on to achieve recording, publishing and other deals, tour opportunities, and media coverage, such as Kellermensch, My Heart Belongs To Cecilia Winter, Tracer, Fallulah, Iiris, and Murmansk, and we expect the artists that perform at this year’s event to also go on to greater things.
Another feature of Popkomm 2011 is that once again we will be cooperating with Berlin Festival to present a handful of “Popkomm recommended” acts on the festival line-up. Berlin Festival takes place adjacent to Popkomm on the Tempelhof airfield on 09-10 September. Last year’s incredible line-up included Editors, Robyn, LCD Soundsystem, Fever Ray, Fatboy Slim, and Hot Chip. This year sees Suede, Primal Scream, Beirut, The Rapture, The Drums, James Blake, Austra, Aloe Blacc, and Dry The River confirmed for the festival.
Both Popkomm and Berlin Festival come under the umbrella of Berlin Music Week. Berlin Music Week takes place 07-11 September. Every event taking place in Berlin within that week will be coordinated through BMW and included in all official BMW marketing.
Popkomm will aim to place as many artists as possible on to the various Berlin Music Week events, clubnights, and parties that will take place throughout the city during this exciting week of music and entertainment.
The criteria for selected artists is for them to have the support of their export office or other exhibiting organization or company, and to, preferably, have at least one local partner already in place who is prepared to contribute towards the work of promoting their artist's appearances in Berlin.

The artist submission process will begin on 15th March 2011.
